151 The total Vienne-tithe paid by the Norwegian clergy for the ()-year-period 1314—19 amounted to 14.958 marks and for one year to 1/6 of this sum or to 2.493 marks, the collection of the tithes being made from the territories of each of the five bishoprics of Norwaj'. Of this latter sum 1.400 marks were imposed upon the clergy of Frosta-thing and Gula-thing, the territorial districts of which corresponded to the bishoprics of Nidaros, Bergen and Stavanger, according to these assumed norms: Taxation of tithes: each mantal/6sålding to 10 pennings Marks Taxation of landskyld: each 6-sålding to 27 pennings Marks Actual taxation to Viennetithe: Marks Mantals Nidaros Frosta-thing The ledung Härjedalen . These provinces were parts of the bishopric of Oslo, which also included one of the four provinces of hndsiva-thing, Bomerike. There is adequate evidence that each of the three provinces of Borgar-thing had been tissessed at 4.800 6-saldings and Romerike at 3.200 6-saldings, indicating that the total assessment of the bishopric of Oslo amounted to 17.600 6-saldings. This figure would according to the said norms give a taxation of tithes to 733 1/3 marks and of landskyld from ca 895
