peter erhart 141 figure3: In the spring of 864, Alphere transfers his property in Züberwangen (Canton of St. Gallen) to the monastery of St. Gallen, but reserves the right to use the goods for an annual rent of one denarius and the option to repurchase them for a pound. If he does not repurchase the goods during his lifetime, they will permanently become the property of the monastery after his death. If he dies during his upcoming pilgrimage to Rome, his wife Plidkarda should be allowed to use the goods for the current year. After that, they are to pass to the monastery.
