part iii • contemporary legal history • michael stolleis I established contacts in Lund, Uppsala, and Stockholm, and I made friends with colleagues from all over Scandinavia – Lars Björne in Finland, Dag Michalsen in Norway, Kjell Åke Modéer in Sweden. I spent six wonderful months in Lund at Kjell Åke’s invitation. I even got to fly Nils Holgersson’s route from Skåne to Lapland with him. And one day the humbling news reached me of the award of a Dr. jur. honoris causa, alongside the world star of politics Kofi Annan – an unforgettable experience. So I would like to conclude with a heartfelt thanks to Sweden, an abstraction the reality of which stirs so many deep personal feelings.
