state which, however, overlooks the fact that duties may exist irrespective of the addressee’s knowledge of the command to respect a duty, which makes the command-theory redundant and uninformative. On the basis of these observations, Hägerström concludes: To the will-theory, the only feasible solution left is to adduce the coercive force that internalized psychological demands have upon us as the sought-after fact to which legal duties should correspond, which is possible provided that this operation is not reiterated by adducing this specific psychological force upon a further fact, as any attempt in such a direction would entail a repetition of the errors previously committed by jurisprudence in its quest for facts.12 An additional distinction that must be drawn in the determination of legal duties is that between moral and legal duties (which is a distinction that occasionally has failed to be maintained by jurisprudence, especially in international law),13 because if this distinction is not be observed, then the accuracy, veracity, and applicability of the jurisprudential concept of legal duty becomes diminished and eventually useless.
